The cutest Elly bag from Kate Spade

If I have a couple hundreds of thousands bucks lying around, then I'll consider getting this utterly charming yet kinda impractical basket-weaved tote from Kate Spade. I love elephants!

Linky here.

Date Night

Supposed to go watch the UFC fight but ended up as a Date Night since we got some time to be just alone. And when I say alone it means only the two of us.

So he surprised me with a trip back to this nice neighborhood with its own man made lake. He brought me there like 2+ years ago on a date—It was later in the night, and we just had dinner and I wanted to go home already but he refused to *release* me. So he drove me to this lakeside to hang out for a while and it was freezing! I remember being very nervous, because I thought he was going to "make his move" but he didn't. Phew~

It was only a few dates later then we became officially a couple. So when we stood at the same spot just now, I told him he owes me a kiss, as I didn't receive one 2 years ago. It's all good now.

Awkward smile due to my Invisaligners

I look FUGLY in this picture (pls do not click to enlarge it) but I think is awesomely funny so I have to share it. The ducks came out of nowhere on the right and started running so I pretended it was chasing me :)

But then we figured they weren't interested in us. (this is how we see it) Turns out that the 2 white ducks are females and the 2 dark brown/green ones are males and the latter is aggressively chasing one of the white ducks. Because I joined it in party, the victim went to hide under the front of our car! But the 2 males refused to give up (horny bastards) and keep pecking at the poor girl on her neck. So much that I could see it turning red and the feathers are coming out. See below.
The other white duck can't really help much so it stood helplessly on the side. I kept screaming at the males, trying to shoo them away. The BF actually LIGHTLY pushed one of the males away and it didn't bulge!!! DAMN!

The BF was videotaping the whole thing but in the end we realize that he didn't actually record it \"(-_-)/

After 2 minutes, he went to move the car backwards and the girl got out and the males kept chasing her to the grass and one of them almost successfully got on top of her and started his humping. Luckily in the end she somehow got away and I guess the males got tired and gave up.

DAMN. the males are violent. I guess ducks are one fo the species who really dun respect the females of their kind. Makes me don't like them as much. Especially when the females were so pretty in their white feathers..... hahahha

Anyways, the next stop was my favorite cupcake place in Vegas— The Cupcakery. I'm so surprised he remembered. I had to wait till we got to another place because since I have braces now, I need to take them out and wash it before I can eat, and then put them back on.

I'm happy I'm doing this but I hope I can endure the pain and inconvenience for now and then I'll be looking great in my new smile :)

Goodnight!

sparky

The BF saw Sparky lying down on the couch, without a care in the world, with his Ducky, and said: "It's like you're on vacation everyday!"

p.s. Sparky is much better now, he's back to normal! It's just that we have to watch is back (literally) and no let him jump too much. No medicine or vitamins would help. I've know a lot of people who have the bulging disc in their back too. It sucks!

paranoid

Earlier today the BF told me that Spark was not acting normal 'cause he stop jumping when he asked him to. I just dismissed the thougth and called the BF 'crazy'.

Then we brought Sparky to the doggy park. It drizzled a little earlier so since Las Vegas rarely rains people are like scared of rain so there was no one at the small dogs' park. Sparky didn't seem real excited and I thought it was just cause there is no friends around.

Then we got home and he went straight to bed. Later he didn't eat his treats, instead he took them and put them aside which is REAL unlikely of him.

We went out for dinner and came back and realised he didn't touch his dinner at all.

Then I'm starting to freak out a little. I go to see him in his bed with an intense fear that I'll find him stop breathing lying there.

He would lay next to use while we watch tv and I check once in a while if he is breathing and would open his eyes when I pet him.

I think I am really insecure. He might be just a little under the weather or having a cold or fever. I'll continue to watch him closely the next 24 hours and react. But given what I went through a while back, I'm afraid to lose anyone now.

pretending I'm busy

Because I just wanna be in denial and avoid the crap that really bothers me.

Today at the office pantry, while exchanging conventionally boring 'hellos' and 'how are yous', another colleague and I realized we were both very mentally exhausted and did not try to pretend to be all cheerful. Sigh.

I also realize that I've lost a certain drive for my life. I don't feel like fighting anymore. No, I'm not giving up on my life, I just want, you know, to live in a peaceful and happy environment, everyday. I don't want to go to work and sulk and pick fights with people on silly little things like font sizes and alignment of graphics. As much as I've tried to avoid the drama, I don't think I ever can because working in an ad agency itself is a self-stirring-shit drama ditch.

ok stop rant. show pictures ok?

ARIA's buffet—The latest place where I have to bring visitors to. This dessert strawberry cheesecake....oh la la.
But the crab legs are the best! Dipped in melted butter!
Then we had a bbq for the weekend...
And some pretty interesting guests.

Ethel's Chocolate Factory Cactus Lighting Night

The only LV native thing (besides gambling and etc) is Ethel's Chocolate Factory. I may or may not have brought peeps there when they are out here. Mainly coz' I always lose my way getting there. The street that leads to it becomes a fork and I always forget which way is the right one............

Anyways, it was nice to get a kick start into the holiday season. The weather just turn cold for now. It did earlier, then it turned warm again. But now I think it's here to stay. It's not that cold anyways, compared to like Detroit.

So the bf actually said: I'm seeing all these X'mas stuff. Makes me feel festive, makes me feel happy. Which is good because he was complaining about a headache and feeling queszy and he forgot all about that when he got there.

As a bonus we got an assorted box of chocolate. I was surprised that the bf actually told us to choose for a box of 12. I got my favorite cheesecake flavor (I know huh, so un-chocolatey flavor but it's so good), liquer champagne flavored ones and some other boring nuts ones.

Ended the evening with some L&L Hawaiian BBQ dinner and lychee flavored green tea. Yums. Got Spam Musubi to-go for tomorrow breakfast!!!

I lost to spiders

yeah. officially, coz those MOFOs have invaded my bed, the one most private things I consider.

I AM PISSED OFF.

It begun innocently, seeing 2 teeny weeny baby spiders crawling on my bed, I brushed them off, changed to clean sheets and forgot about it.

Then one night, as I was almost fully asleep, I felt something ticklish on my face. Yes you guessed it right. BUT THIS TIME IT WAS A FULL SIZE SPIDER STROLLING ACROSS MY FACE.

Guess who slept on the couch that night?

And who hadn't slept on her own bed for almost 1 week?

Perfect ending to a rather relaxing evening where we went to the Spa at the Trump Hotel on the Strip for a pampering massage session.

Isn't it ironic...........

Highest reward for anyone who can give me the best/quickest solution. Apply now >

what a saturday

I got back to my apartment and I found myself whistling and humming as I prepare for a 5 PM dinner. I actually caught myself in a good mood, totally off guard!

Today was one of those wacky-weather days. It was just 90+ degrees in Fahrenheit yesterday afternoon. I entered my car and felt that it has been slowly cooking under the hot desert sun. I though to myself: Yay! Bits of summer still haven’t left. Then today. I woke up feeling chilly. The familiar unoccupied sides of the bed were unpleasantly cold. It was so comfy that I had to get up and for the first time, change the setting from air-condition to heater. Yes. And I dreaded this very moment.

I hurriedly put on my cargo pants and long sleeve tee, made something to eat and dashed out. I reached the Summerlin Community Park just 8 minutes late. I saw the SPCA van already parked next to the booths and speed-walk as fast as I could, while fighting to put on an extra jacket, towards the people in the ‘too-bright-for-a-Saturday-morning” florescent green tees.

Today I was assigned to handle Tigger, a 7-years-old black+ white male rat terrier. As usual the dogs that luckily got to get out of the animal shelter are always too excited and can’t be bothered to even greet the handlers for the day. Well, at least in my past 3 experiences. Immediately, Tigger took ME for a walk around the whole compound, sniffing and discovering every inch of the grounds. Within the first 15 minutes, he had peed and boy-oh-boy, someone had a huge dinner last night!

Tigger & I "making out" in my car on a cold rainy afternoon.

My task as the volunteer and Tigger’s handler is to let Tigger meet and greet as many people and dogs as he can, answer any questions potential adoptive parents have about him, relate his behaviors and temperament and most importantly, ensure Tigger and I have a great time.

I have met Tigger as at previous event but I was handling another dog—Jake, a handsome 2-years-old male Australian Cattle dog. Jake is a medium-sized dog, about ¾ of my size and basically was dragged me all over the place. My hands were a little roughen from holding onto his thick leash for 4½ hours. Today, sweet-tempered Jake was also present and I am happy to announce that he was adopted (!!!!!) within the first few hours of the event.
Jake—sitting like a gentleman

So this time Tigger, being a rat terrier, is definitely much easier to deal with. Plus, he has absolutely zero temper at all and is always so sweet and friendly, but not too friendly. In fact, some people think he is too aloof because he is not one who will just park himself on your lap and fall asleep. Besides being too distracted to concentrate on one particular human being or dog, he never barked or whined throughout the whole day (and he didn’t the last time I saw him too). He basically just does his own dog thing and chill.

So it began to rain on top of the icy winds and missing sunshine. Tigger started to shiver and I managed to score the last doggy sweater for him. Unfortunately, it was pink. Fortunately, it was a snazzy dazzling bright neon pink sweater that’s hard to miss. If I could I would scribble ADOPT ME right on his back and he would be “flying off the shelves”. At one point, it was so freaking cold (like 10 degrees celsius) that I eventually brought Tigger into my car to hide. He had no problems jumping into the back seat. Then I thought, Ok, I’m hungry. So I proceed to eat my egg sandwich but I made sure I faced the other direction in order not to torture him. But who am I bluffing? Of course he can smell it. So when we came out from hiding, I had to get some biscuits for him. You should have seen the way he took the biscuit out of my hands. Gentle. I wish some men would behave like that.

Throughout the day we met several prospective adoptive parents. And I never never act like the over-zealous underage sales assistant who hovers and barges into your personal space with a “you-better-buy-it-now-while-I-stare-you-down” attitude. Because unlike clothes, returning an incompatible dog after a few days does no one good.

Finally, as we were preparing to close for the day, the lady with her sweet 9 year-old came back with their 2 current dogs to see if they would get along with Tigger. And hallelujah! Her dogs are easy-going and very charming. Although Tigger didn’t immediately worship them, I see they did their initial acknowledgment (sniff sniff) and “approved” one another. And from now on, all we need is to give them some time alone to properly fall in love.

(Everybody together) Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

And so, Tigger going back to a warm loving home tonight instead of the shelter made me whistle and hum. I could’ve done a chicken dance if I haven’t been so worn out by the extensive walks with Tigger. And PLEASE my friends, next time you get a pet, make sure you’ve done the right research, thought through the lifelong commitment (yours and his/her life), make all proper arrangements and please, please, please, don’t buy from a puppy mill. Go to your local SPCA or animal rescue and do the right thing ☺

Woof!
Astro (aka yoda)— the first dog I handled at my first volunteer event who subsequently got adopted couple days later. yeah~ bad hair day.

Please meet Bert.

I am fish-sitting for my friend. This is Bert, a Beta male. He is actually very very smart. He knows me and when I am going to play and feed him.

In this video, you see that I dropped a pellet of food for him and if you listen closely, you can hear him crunching on it! Volumes up guys.

I promised myself not to commit to any living pets in LV anymore. My heart has been broken once too many.

And so they meet... ...

pic via damncoolpics

I haven't posted any pic of mr Big recently. He is alive. But a weekly trip to the pet store for crickets and worms led me to realizing that Mr Big's species is also called Chubby Frog. No wonder he is so fat. He bloody exploded twice his size when I fed him last night. Damn! I guess only penguins are smart enough to regulate their diets (thats what the aquarium-keeper at Monterey Bay said).

My Big in his red-light-districty heating lamp. Coz' it's winter and he needs to stay warm~

He ate so much that he stretch until he got a new white stretchmark on his back today. I hope it's just something dirty. I tried to clean it off but he don't let me. How can a frog has stretchmarks? How?

"I'm at the corner of Walk and Don't Walk...."

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not going to go back to SG for X'mas and New Year's this year :(

Yes, I am sad too. I'm staying put and was gonna have a quiet & peaceful holiday until the 3 havoc homewreckers decided that they'll be coming. I'm scared. LOL

I realised Vegas is definitely a place where you live and get lotsa home guests. I even had to turn away some for the holidays. Oopsie!

~~~
So during thanksgiving, I took a solo roadtrip down to LA. I don't like the city at all coz' everytime I go there I lose something. This trip is no different either. I don't want to talk about it.
The best thing is I got Mr Big back in my arms (thanks to Mr Y) and met up with my good friends from SF. It was a crazy nonstop 36 hours.
I left Las Vegas at 515AM on thursday morning and reached Newport Beach in 4 hours. Finally met up with Sayaka after like a godzillion years and took a quick nap at Saori's place B4 a Ramen rendezous with Yoshi to pick up Mr Big. Made a shopping quickie @ Huntington Beach with the girls, picked up a lemon pie and had a sweet Thanksgiving bbq back at Saori's place.
Woke up early next morning to drop by Melrose for a business errand and met the rest of the gang for a wonderful lunch @Le Pain Quotidien in healthy organic style. Then I braved through the horrendous LA traffic to rush back to Vegas (5 painful driving hours with shaken-up Mr Big in the backseat) — Cousin Ming is scheduled to arrive at LAS that evening!
We had a BLAST! She unvoluntarily went shopping with me at the Outlet mall but int the end we both went a little crazy at the absurd sales going on. It was so fun to shop with someone (been doing that too long by myself).
I got to show her that Vegas has an awesome natural environment too by going to the Red Rock Canyon just minutes away from my apt. We had good time monkeying around, posing for stupid pictures and harassing the elderly while they're trying to hike(pointing accusingly at her). It started to get really cold and we left for a fabulous Monty Python's Spamalot show at the Wynn. H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! You guys gotta watch it when you drop by. Then we spent the rest of the evening discovering Wynn over a drink at Parasol Down. Finally. It's my favorite spot on the strip ever.
She had to leave to go back to Skooool on Monday. boo hoo... I felt like her visit was way too short. But I'm glad we are a few more steps closer now and it'll be my turn to visit her New England side of town soon, I hope.
Overall it was an incredible weekend. Now, back to my hermit life.
Some stuff to share, no cupcakes though!
I am sure no one in the World can resist or reject when offered an cupcake.
I am kinda addicted to one. I am kinda craving one now, actually, writing this. BUT it's 11+PM, I think I won't be able to fulfil this dream tonight.
So moving away from SF, away from my private baker, away from my fav. bakery Miette, I have yet to find happinesscupcakes. I need to correct myself. I meant GREAT cupcakes. AWESOME ORGASMIC cupcakes. Cupcakes that make me smile in my sleep.
I made an impromptu stop to Cupcake Lane Bakery one afternoon in the middle of work just because. My new colleagues told me about that place during lunch and made my salad taste like desert sand. Couldn't stop thinking about it for the next 30 mins, so I told my boss I am making a cupcake run (offering to get him one made it easier to for him to just smile and say OK).
I tried to wait til tea time but what to do? Gobble Gobble.
Guess what. It ain't that good afterall. So I was a teeny bit disappointed, but nevertheless a little bit more satisfied than no cupcake at all.
Why? It was a little too sweet. And that did it for me. I am just so picky. what to do. what to do.
On the upside, I heard there is one more better bakery call Cupcakery in Henderson(SE of Vegas). Think I heard that they're opening a store at my side of town....I'm waiting....
In other fun-er news, check out who was driving in front of me one sunny fine day.
Pardon the awkward reflection of my FIERCE dashboard. I took the photo with haste. And no! I didn't drive next to it and wink. The driver was an elder lady :( There goes another Hope for Prince Charming.
