life is strange

Today I was having a discussion with a friend about training dogs. He recommends the most effective dog training/punishment is time-out. Dogs are very social animals, and to take out their time from the ‘pack’, isolate them in a dark/small room kills them. For the closing, you have to let them out without any acknowledgment, as if nothing had happen, so that they know that they are ‘lucky’ to be forgiven.

People who tend to yell or hit their dogs will only induce fear, hatred and more ignorance.

Then tonight as I was going through my daily beauty routine, I thought about how similar that is to punishing humans. Think about the ultimate punishment—Jail. We take the offender and isolate them in individual cells. We limit their movement. We turn off their lights. We disallow any socialization. And when they leave, stone-faced prison guards open the gates of the blinding freedom. You don’t see buses of cheerleaders waiting for the newly-released. You would probably see some solemn but grateful family members. Or in most cases, no one.
