we're proud owners of a mini!

So on a Friday night, I thought I was going out on a hot date. This guy brought me to the local car dealer instead. It's not a typical car dealership. It's a fixed priced car shop, which is great for people like me who hates car salespersons and haggling. So this guy has been wanting to get a new car for the longest time. His beat-up SUV does the job, but he says he worries every time he drives, wondering when it is going to break down in the middle of the road.

So we wait there for the longest time, which is a reallllly unusual customer service experience. My face was the "blackest" and we were ready to stand up and leave when a SA, same name as the bf, came to greet us.

The rest is Mini history. We test drove, the bf loved it with a lot of love and he said Yes. We took home the car immediately. The bf kept pestering me to go out the next two days so that he can drive around.

In other news, I played the "Sex and the City" Jackpot machine! Yes! (I know you girls would love to play it when you're here. See link here) My first experience with the machine was really bad coz' it ate my $5 in like less than 1 minute. So I swore I won't play it again but I did that night after we got the Mini. and guess what? I won like $40 over in one round of 50 cents bet. woohoo!

And another jackpot like I like to play now is Goldfish (link)and Mermaid's Gold. Wahahahaha I think I might just end up here later when I retire and sit at the penny slots all day and night. Free drinks not to mention, unlike stingy Asian casinos!

My little pig bro just passed his driving test the first round!!!

Must be the *good luck* that I said to him in the morning.

OMG! Lil' piggy is growing up too fast. Cannot! I need to boss him around!

Lazy Saturday

My TV is playing the Food Network, with a bubbly lady’s show call Barefoot in Paris. Firstly, I would like to say there is waaaaay too many chefs on TV now, raising them into mini celebrity status which I don’t know is good or bad. But I do enjoy looking at them making envious trips to different parts of the world AND having the chance to eat their hearts out b4 going back to the kitchen to whip up so-said inspired dishes, while getting paid. This show gets better when she cleverly incorporates her own husband or partner as he gets the same perks as she does while filming.

DAMN.

Another show I watch all the time is Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. First I though he was the guy who hosts “ America’s Funniest Home Videos”. Then I watched No Reservations and wondered why did he turn into such an awesome badass? It turns out they are totally different. Oops. Mister Bourdain is a very charismatic crazy man and I’m having a hard time tearing my eyes off him his show. I am mysteriously attracted to him. Might be that twinkle in his eye.

Speaking about Paris.

Excuse me but annoying Rachael Ray is on now and I have to change the channel… … Animal Planet it is. They’re playing Fat Pets, with corresponding fat owners. How depressing.

Back to Paris.

Some of you might have heard that I planned to live in Paris for a little bit after my stint in the States. And I’m confirming that. It’s a plan I’m planning to keep. It will just be for a couple of months, no longer than half a year unless I get adopted by Karl Lagerfield, who will dress me in Chanel everyday. Exciting isn’t it? I might cut my hair short, do some waitressing, hang out around photo booths at the Metro station, photograph gnomes and design treasure hunting games for beautiful French men. Sounds like it’s just out of a movie? I think you’re nuts.

I have to confess something though. I totally derailed from one of my new year resolution yesterday. It’s hard. So, what’s wrong with just sitting on the couch every night after work?

By the way, it’s brrrrrrrrrrrr cold here. My car registered a negative Celsius one morning last week.

Speaking of cold, I suddenly remembered I should post about my current obsessions.

SOCKS.

I found these socks one day and almost flight-ed to Heaven.
It led to a compulsive search online to acquire them. They’re expensive but I really don’t care. After exerting a few days of impulse, I went to a local store and guess what! I found two pairs of the similar design buried underneath the sales baskets at 50% off.

YAY!!!

Officially score of the century.

"I'm at the corner of Walk and Don't Walk...."

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not going to go back to SG for X'mas and New Year's this year :(

Yes, I am sad too. I'm staying put and was gonna have a quiet & peaceful holiday until the 3 havoc homewreckers decided that they'll be coming. I'm scared. LOL

I realised Vegas is definitely a place where you live and get lotsa home guests. I even had to turn away some for the holidays. Oopsie!

~~~
So during thanksgiving, I took a solo roadtrip down to LA. I don't like the city at all coz' everytime I go there I lose something. This trip is no different either. I don't want to talk about it.
The best thing is I got Mr Big back in my arms (thanks to Mr Y) and met up with my good friends from SF. It was a crazy nonstop 36 hours.
I left Las Vegas at 515AM on thursday morning and reached Newport Beach in 4 hours. Finally met up with Sayaka after like a godzillion years and took a quick nap at Saori's place B4 a Ramen rendezous with Yoshi to pick up Mr Big. Made a shopping quickie @ Huntington Beach with the girls, picked up a lemon pie and had a sweet Thanksgiving bbq back at Saori's place.
Woke up early next morning to drop by Melrose for a business errand and met the rest of the gang for a wonderful lunch @Le Pain Quotidien in healthy organic style. Then I braved through the horrendous LA traffic to rush back to Vegas (5 painful driving hours with shaken-up Mr Big in the backseat) — Cousin Ming is scheduled to arrive at LAS that evening!
We had a BLAST! She unvoluntarily went shopping with me at the Outlet mall but int the end we both went a little crazy at the absurd sales going on. It was so fun to shop with someone (been doing that too long by myself).
I got to show her that Vegas has an awesome natural environment too by going to the Red Rock Canyon just minutes away from my apt. We had good time monkeying around, posing for stupid pictures and harassing the elderly while they're trying to hike(pointing accusingly at her). It started to get really cold and we left for a fabulous Monty Python's Spamalot show at the Wynn. H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! You guys gotta watch it when you drop by. Then we spent the rest of the evening discovering Wynn over a drink at Parasol Down. Finally. It's my favorite spot on the strip ever.
She had to leave to go back to Skooool on Monday. boo hoo... I felt like her visit was way too short. But I'm glad we are a few more steps closer now and it'll be my turn to visit her New England side of town soon, I hope.
Overall it was an incredible weekend. Now, back to my hermit life.
My cherry6
yes, you're looking at my newest toy of the season.
After an excruciating search, I finally found one that I am willing to call *My Very First Car*. It's important, It's the FIRST.
My mom's first car was also a Mazda, that I remember from my childhood. But I've to admit mine is a little flashier. This baby is a 2003 Mazda 6, cherry red (therefore the moniker) with automatic transmission, 2.3 L and essentially, all the bells and whistles.
I got a pretty auspicious license plate number too. Can't display it in case the FBI is looking for me. All I can say is it has 8s' and 6s'.
Gotta go. It's time for a Joyride.
