Finally~

As I returned to my apartment today, I was greeted by an unpleasant smell. It was lingering in the entrance way and I have no idea why and how it started and spread. I was disgusted! ME! A home proud person no matter where I go – has a lingering stench to welcome me the moment I step in. Fe Fi Fo Fum! It smells like rotting wood. It smells like old people. It smells like crap! This is ATROCIOUS!!!

Spraying Lysol on my doormat can only solve the problem temporary (the other solution is to find the source, but I’m not going to kid myself with this 40 year old building). So I think I have to do some candle shopping.

The only scented candle I have left is my Botanicus Champagne-scented (which I have once admitted that I’m addicted to). So I lit it for my closet, which is very near the entrance so at least my clothes/shoes remain sweet smelling.

Oooh! For all of those who dunnoe what to get for me for X’mas. There is l’Occitane! Please get me ANYTHING in the EAU DES 4 REINES ROSE series, because I am majorly falling in love with this scent. I dunnoe why. I remember a friend said it reminds her of the Bandung drink we had in Primary school. Yes, the pink color drink that sold for 10 cents in a plastic cup! It is probably made of the filthiest water but Oooh memories… I only used to drink the orange or lime flavoured ones coz they are sweet and tasty… everything at the school canteen was yummy! Ahhh… I remember there is only one stall that specializes in selling fried sliced fish cake and everyone freaking loves them! mmm mmm okay… I decide to dedicate one future post to write about CANTEEN FOOD! Too bad I didn’t have a digital camera then (then again, I dun have one now neither).

Back to the candles and scents. Well actually, food is a much more interesting topic. Let me write one more thing about food:

FINALLY THEY OPENED A SINGAPORE-STYLE FOOD COURT IN DOWNTOWN WHERE THE NEW GIANT MALL IS!!! FINALLY…

There is this newly opened, horribly-named mall on Market street, called the Westfield Shopping Center. Urgh. However, it turns out to be pretty attractive to me. I found out they have MANGO! Yes, MANGO & ZARA! Then they have a huge two-storey ADIDAS store (which I haven’t explored yet), COCOABELLA, BLOOMINGDALES, MOVIE THEATRES and a FREAKING FOODCOURT!

Well, they dun have Meepok Ta! so sure… or my favourite prawn noodles. At least there is a big food court so I have more choices. I haven’t cooked in a long time (then again this is about to change as I just went to Costco and got tonnes of meat). They also have a fancy-schmancy supermart and I forgot its snobby name but they have nice potted plants and flowers at the entrance. Also I can go there for last minute super-delish party food, if I ever decide to throw one again.

The down side is, it is freaking expensive! I had Korean noodles and short ribs today and it cost freaking 10 bucks. 10 bucks for a meal at a food court. 10 freaking USD where I had to stand in line, serve myself with cutleries and fight for seats with old Filipino ladies (no racial discrimination intended)! But they do have fancily dressed people to clear the trays though. Oh, and the screwed-to-the-table pot of lucky bamboo. And last ‘Oh’, they have freestanding silverware. I think it is all gonna be stolen by end of the month.

Oh one more thing to rejoice about. They have PAPA BEARD!!! YAY!!! In case you dun remember, let me show u a heavenly shot of their custard buns.

I still haven’t update you kids about what I have been up to.

Apparently I broke my promise and went shopping again. Bought a pair of heels and a beautiful beautiful black/cream tube dress which has a light built-in corset!!! I feel like a princess and it makes me look curvier too. PRICELESS.

And the promise was broken due to the disappointment of not buying a new LCD flat panel TV at Costco on Wednesday. The one I aimed for looked crappy in real and the others were too expensive. Anyone has any brands to recommend? I really need it for the new Nintendo Wii that I am expecting from LESIE for X’mas ← ← ← nice subtle hint eh?

Speaking about TV, I have been chasing the first season of ROME - a HBO TV series. I highly recommend it because I felt it was extremely entertaining and according to J, accurate to its history too. Great way to hark back those history lessons again, in a bloody-fun/nudes-a-plenty way.

Missy has also been working on this freelance project for a Sonoma-based restaurateur couple. They own like 4 spots and are expanding their empire aggressively. Thus, I was very honored to be picked to create their parent company logo and brand identity. The most awesome part is to be invited up to their restaurants a few weekends ago and chow for free! Free food is the way to get to my heart, let me tell ya! I can work for them forever! Plus money of course.

Here’re some snapshots of what we devoured that hot hot hot afternoon at Healdsburg, CA.

Everything was super scrumptious! Especially the Jap raw oysters (slurp!) and the salt and pepper short ribs that were presented in the tub… so cute.

Did I mention that sweet young nubile Y3 sent me a FengShui book that set off a spark of FengShui Frenzy in me? She knew that I am experiencing a string of ill luck and wanted to help. Thanks Babe! Kisses! So today, as workload is really light, I enlisted the help of my fav. agency guy to move me a new desk to my cube so that I am officially facing North - which is my Career-enhancing direction (And no I did not burn any incense nor chant any prayers, I am already *alternative* enough in my agency). All I need now is to go to Chinatown and buy me another six hollow-metal rods wind chime and I am all set to conquer the advertising world. The first one that I bought is now hanging at the entrance of my apartment. I have to say I feel better and all I’m asking for is PEACE – pure and simple.

Gosh! I am tired of typing so much at one go. Oh, it reminds me there is this cool new band call OK GO. Seems pretty cool. Go check them out. Actually, watch this funky MV of theirs. It reminded me of the nasty rusty one we used to have in the house.

Peace out!
