Day 2 in Aloha Heaven

Today is the HUGE adventure day. I woke up feeling so much better and ready to fight some volcano magma. We drove down about 2 hours south to the volcano area. FYI, this island is the youngest island of all of Hawai'i and I think the only 5 active volcano in the world (or something like that). It is still spewing out fresh hot magma from Mother Earth Central and that's what I wanna see!

The scenery of the drive
Some funky named stalls like "Donkey Balls" + "Surfer's Ass"
Colors everywhere.
76 more miles to go
Out of nowhere, local jewellery for sale along the road
Turtle graphic on the roof
Miniature model of the island
We reached and are near the craters. There're 2-3 smaller craters within one big crater(???).
IS THERE GAS COMING OUTTA MY ASS? OOPS!
PELE - the hawaiian goddess's home
Inside a lava tube - it started pouring at this time and we ran about 5 minutes in the forest(yes, suddenly in the area there is a forest.)
I took notes...
Looking pretty confident now...
and we kept going
ALMOST lost my foot as we walk from the back of this and didn;t see it coming until someone told us. Could have figured it out when it got warmer for no reason... LAVA, REAL LAVA flowing!!! *amazed*
Okay, we are safe now. but unfortunately as we continued for another hour after this shot, it got too late and we have to turn back. So we missed the part where the lava enters the ocean and cools into solid blackness...but it was crazy. TOTAL hours of trekking in crazy solid molten lava=4 hours. my feet hurt like nothing.

That night we made a bad choice and had to have dinner at some place called "Drysdale's bar". but I was too tired to have any feeelings.

Looking forward to beach day tomorrow!
