cooking

I remember anxiously picking out this recipe which I've been dying to try when the girls were visiting me almost 2 months ago(gasp! Has it really been 2 months?OMG moment.)

I think we bought that frozen chicken breast together(Miss Tan & I), which date this piece of meat to be almost 2 months old but when kept in the freezer I think it shouldn't matter. Right? Right? Alas, I never had the chance to roll up my sleeves and demo my superb cooking skills to them as they end up experiencing America as the Great Fast Food Nation. (Wendy's, In-N-Out, Chick-fil-A.....you name it.)

I feel cooking for one is as boring as it gets, not to mention all that fuss for the washing+preparation and storing the leftovers. But I still do it anyways, I gotta eat. D always say that I'm "So-Love" when I take care of myself like that.

So, is it avocado season? I start to see it in every grocery store I go to. I have so fallen in love with this fruit-veggie. I used to hate it when I taste it in my California rolls. I guess it grew on me, especially when I became obsessed with Guacamole (a South-American avocado-based dip) all of a sudden. Sigh, woman.

What I tried today is a recipe from Everyday Food mag — Cayenne-rubbed Chicken with avocado salsa. (Click on name for online recipe)

Everyday Food specializes in providing easy-to-prepare recipes for lazybusy people like me & you. Did I forget to mention Cayenne is an awesome spicy spice that I learnt to use from Shawn(1 of the rare good things I learnt from her).

Sha-Zamm!
Looks good eh? I am extremely proud of myself for fixing such a quick and delicious dinner. I love how the spicy-ness and the avocado's dense texture complimented each other perfectly. I added an extra dash of Cayenne coz' I know I like it hot. I also chose to cut my chicken breast into thinner slices rather that the usual huge chunk of meat for a more delicate eating experience. I girl what!

Okay lah, now you go try and let me know how it goes.

update: My recipe verdict 8/10
