Heath Ceramics — MOSAIC Workshop Part II

Well well, Sunday is 2nd day of the Mosaic Workshop. The night before, when I got home, I was sooooo tired. I didn't know that making mosaic is soooo exhausting. So I called it an early night to get ready for Sunday.

Before I reveal my masterpiece, I would liek to share some pictures of the impromptu tour of the ceramic factory that Lisa decided to give us.

See all the silly teapots they made for fun.
I put my hand in there! All the plates now have my *mark*!
Traditional dryer
A silicon mold

They made that bowl by hand.
So many neatly stacked, waiting to be colored or glazed.
Another drying process in a heated room.
All white. So pretty. I wanna take some home
plates galore.
In the foreground are color plates where they test and blend colors to create new ones.

Okay, So the second day, after the first round dried. It is time to GROUT! It is a messy process. So we need the gloves and aprons and even a mask because it is hazardous to inhale grout when it is in its powder form. I chose black grout to make my main image pop out.

Just rub it in a circular motion, filling in the gaps.

TADAH!!!

I hope you guys love it. I had a lot of fun, despite feeling really worn out. It was great. Now I want to work in a ceramics factory like HEATH and just make those pretty bowls and plates all day. I wonder if I can be so patient.

To my surprise! I didn't even buy a single thing at the store. I am so proud of myself. A freaking bowl, after discount, costs about USD $40. ARGH. It hurts. But just because it was so beautiful. Well, I think I only get to appreciate the ceramics after touring the factory and learning how they function. Each and everyone of those ceramics is made with love, and I can fondly rememeber when I use one. Well, next time, when I win next week's lottery or something.

ciao.
